Hellenistic Culture in Alexandria
  1. Hellenistic culture- blend of Greek, Egyptian, Persian and Indian culture
  2. trade and culturally diverse:
  3. - Alexandria became a foremost center of commerce and culture/civilization
  4. Alexandria's attractions:
    1. -alexander's coffin
    2. pharos (lighthouse)
    3. library which had 500,000 papyrus scrolls

Science and Technology 
  1. Astronomy-
  2. Aristarchus- found out that the Sun is at least x300 bigger than the Earth, Earth and other planets revolved around the Sun
  3. Ptolemy- disagrees with Aristarchus, says that Earth is center of universe, this was taught for the next 14 centuries
  4. Eratosthenes- estimated the real size of the Earth, says the Earth is round
  5. Mathematics and Physics-
  6. Euclid- wrote the book on Geometry (Elements)
  7. Archimedes- estimated value of pi, explained the law of lever
  8. The Archimedes Screw- could raise water from the ground

today we took the test and it went amazing! It was open blog which wa ssoooooooooooooooooooooo clutch!  I studied rlly hard since I'm failing but I still spent like an hour putting all the notes from the powerpoint into my blog because I had a feeling it was gonna be open blog. You should rlly make more tests open blog... please.
